Overview:
Hands-on position responsible for working directly with the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality to ensure that all processes and procedures are capable of manufacturing product that conforms to required specifications. This includes evaluating productiona and test data, analyzing causes of failures, facilitating countermeasures, and communicating outcomes/results to customers.
Responsibilities:
Product Introduction and Changes
PPAP submission
Prototype build support and issue resolution
Prototype inspection plans (IQC), control plans, and audit sheets
Product Launch Activities
Develop, monitor, and manage safe launch audits internally and at customer site
Develop production control plan
Particpate in PFMEA development and deployment
Coordinate MSA studies
Coordinate customer production signoff (PSO)
Daily Production
Monitoring customer quality metrics and coordinating improvement actions
Develop and participate in quality audits (process/product/system)
Issue quality notifications to production
Drive improvement using statistical tools for process characterization
Problem Resolution
Determine and initiate containment activities
Facilitate problem solving teams
Communicate status and plans to customers, input to customer portals
Facilitate read-across and lessons learned from corrective action
Verify process/product documentation is updated based on corrective action
Qualifications:
BSE or commensurate quality experience.
3-7 years of automotive Tier 1 quality experience
Experience in data collection, quality reporting, and corrective action.
In-depth knowledge of automotive industry quality expectations, policies and requirements.
Preferred to have significant operations experience in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment; applying quality methods and lean manufacturing techniques to yield improvements in quality, delivery and cost.
Preferred certifications include ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Black Belt.
Process development, process improvement, and desire to develop and exercise process discipline
Metrics development and management
Problem solving using standard quality tools and ability to train others
Compiling information from customer web portals, internal databases, usage of Microsoft Office applications and Minitab for data analysis and interpretation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interface well with internal and external customers
Clearly communicate technical information in presentation format
Independent, detail oriented self-starter with a business acumen
Hands-on approach with a can-do attitude
